Drum Table

The Drum Table was a challenge in craftsmanship, proportion, and classical furniture-making techniques. Built from solid walnut and walnut veneer, the piece combines traditional woodworking techniques with a more modern style.

The centerpiece of the table is a compass inlay set into the table top. This inlay is made out of Holly and some Ebony from old piano keys. Working with such hard woods and such precise inlay is a huge challenge and something I look forward to trying much more of in the future.

This table was built as one of five required furniture pieces for my program at North Bennet Street School. It represents my continued development in fine furniture making, with an emphasis on precision, thoughtful design, and traditional craftsmanship.
